Rural Outsourcing FAQ
What is Rural Outsourcing?
Rural Outsourcing is a viable alternative to offshore outsourcing and local or
metro outsourcing. Rural, in this case, implies the work is done in smaller
towns away from large urban centers.
How does Rural Outsourcing save my company money?
Costs are controlled in several ways:
- Reduced infrastructure and employment costs due to our rural location.
- More efficient utilization of resources. By using the Saturn Systems you are
tapping into a pool of resources, not relying on an individual. Contracts are
structured to minimize your cost when your resource needs are low.
- Saturn Systems partners with local universities in the form of internships and
providing local jobs to graduating technology students.
- We match the complexity of the needs with the appropriate experience level. The
customer is not required to pay for a senior level developer to perform entry
level tasks.
Where will the work be performed?
All work is performed in our Duluth, Minnesota offices. We do not use any
overseas resources.
Who will perform the work?
- All work is performed locally in our Duluth offices by qualified technical
staff. Saturn has the benefit of 3 universities in the Duluth area all of which
support degree programs in software development, providing us with a steady
stream of capable staff.
- In addition, many of our staff are from outside the area but have gravitated to
Duluth for its high quality of life and outdoor opportunities.
Why should I use Rural Outsourcing instead of sending my work overseas?
- If necessary, Rural Outsourcing workers can appear on site in hours versus days.
- Security. Your company and its interests are protected fully by U.S. federal and
state laws.
- The time zone differences are minimal or non-existent.
Why should I use Rural Outsourcing instead of a local metro consulting firm?
Metro firms cannot offer the cost savings that Rural Outsourcing provides.
Saturn Systems can offer individuals with more years of experience and talent
for a lower price, if a metro firm can deliver the same rates, they will not be
able to provide the same level of talent.
My business is not in a large metro area, can Rural Outsourcing save me money?
Yes, through more efficient utilization of resources. By using Saturn Systems
you are tapping into a pool of resources, not relying on an individual.
Contracts are structured to minimize your cost when your resource needs are low.
What does the rate structure look like?
Contracts are structured in many different ways depending on the amount of work
and the term of commitment. Options include:
- Flat rate
- Flat rate plus low hourly rate
- Straight hourly
rate/per incident
- Block time purchases
What types of work can be outsourced?
Virtually anything can be outsourced with the right communication structure in
place. However, the most efficient types of work are individual projects and
systems enhancement and maintenance. First line of defense type work such as
desktop support is less efficient with this model.
